I’ve teamed up with old friend Dave Taylor – Fellrunningguide. We’ll be running a series of training camps in the national parks of the UK focussed on fell running.
The first will be in June 2019 in the stunning Peak District National Park situated between Manchester and Sheffield.
See below for details.
About the Peak District Fell Running Camp
The schedule is packed full of group runs on quiet trails, evening talks, personal 1-1 coaching and the opportunity to participate in a number of local fell races.
The camp is perfect for those looking to improve their racing, enjoy running on quiet trails in the national park or simply meet like minded runners.
June is the perfect time in the UK to get out running with many hours of daylight. We have even included a night run. A vital technique that is necessary in many ultra races and gives a different perception to the landscape and running.
The schedule is outlined below but has elements of flexibility. If the weather changes for example and it rains we may offer the opportunity to get out and incorporate some bad weather navigation and survival skills.
Sean and Dave first met at university in Sheffield in the early 90s and have nearly 50 years of exploring the gritstone edges and limestone dales of the Peak District between them.
They both went on to lecture at universities across the world and hold first aid and outdoor qualifications to lead groups in the wilderness.
What will you get from the Fell Running camp?
Our accommodation is in one of the many renovated barns and farmhouses around the beautiful village of Hathersage from which our runs will be based. We have scheduled a number of different length and pace runs.
To fully explore the Peak District we will also travel further afield to visit different trails. Transport for this is provided.
Whether you run a sub 3 hr marathon or are simply interested in getting out on the trails, our groups all support each other and we are able to cater for different paces, abilities and objectives.
On the first day an individual discussion will set personal aims for you and what you want to get out of the camp.
At the end you will have a clear idea of how to progress and get the most out of your future running.
Hathersage also has an outdoor swimming pool and many rivers to refresh the legs.
We have deliberately chosen to cater for you ourselves so that we can provide healthy and nutritious meals throughout the camp. You will not go hungry.
On joining you will be sent full details, kit list, what to expect plus offers and discount codes linked to athletic brands only available to you.
